Since the launch of mainnet in 2020, Celo’s network now supports 1000+ projects from builders, developers, and even artists, who everyday create new applications and issue digital currencies from over 100 countries around the world. Celo is supported by a community of organizations and individuals, including Jack Dorsey, a16z, and Deutsche Telekom.
Rene Reinsberg - Co-founder. Rene is currently President of the Celo Foundation. Previously, he co-founded Locu (aquired by GoDaddy). Rene started his career in global capital markets at Morgan Stanley and also worked at McKinsey, the World Bank, TechnoServe and General Catalyst. He holds graduate degrees from Germany's WHU and MIT.
Sep Kamvar - Co-founder. Previously, Sep was a professor at Stanford and MIT and founded Wildflower Schools, a nationwide network of nonprofit Montessori schools. He was also the Co-Founder and CEO of Kaltix, a personalized search company that was acquired by Google in 2003. Currently, is also co-founder of Mosaic, a technology-centered homebuilder Sep is the author of three books and over 40 technical publications and patents.
Marek Olszweski - Co-founder. Marek is a Partner at cLabs, one of the companies working on Celo. Previously, he started Locu, a venture-backed company that was acquired by GoDaddy, while at MIT with Rene. His past research includes work on deterministic multithreading and transactional memory. He's also worked at Microsoft Research, Google and Sun Labs. He is an active angel investor and advisor to 30+ startups.
